It was quite the experience, an emotional one at that! It all started on Wednesday night, I had returned from some clothes shopping and continued working on a house that I was building. All a sudden, I started getting some pains in my stomach:
Jill Caldera's contractions have begun, see a clinician when they are getting stronger and closer together!!!
Jill Caldera's contractions just intensified

Gattz wasn't home at this time but luckily Gaston had his emergency cellphone to call on his big brother Peyton. They rushed by my side and lifted me up onto my bed as they texted Gattz to hurry up home. I called the doctor and she was very calm on the phone and told me to keep an aspirin between my knees to hold out on rushing in. Supposedly this will help tell if it is false labor or not, said my "What to Expect When Your Expecting" book. As I was reading, my dad was holding my hand and giving me some encouragement.
I was able to stand up and stretch a bit with the help of my dad and my little one one. I took a walk into the nursery which was still missing a few things! This was all happening too fast and we were not ready!

As I settled into the nursery to gather a few last things for the trip Gaston was so cute, he jumped on the step stool to examine my belly by listening to it. I could tell he was getting nervous, so I let him listen to reassure him everything was going to be alright!
After the short walk, I was exhausted and in even more pain. These contractions were now at 2 minutes apart. I laid in bed and tried my best to close my eyes and do some deep breathing. Gaston climbed right on top of me (well off to the side, to protect the baby) for some snuggles and I could tell by how clingy he was, that he was just as nervous as I was. I tried my best to reassure him and together we closed our eyes and took some deep breathes together. We ended up napping for a bit together and the pain became really intense just in time for Gattz to get home!
We arrived at Harborview about 15 minutes later and the entire staff was waiting for us to arrive. They quickly rounded up the entire family into the waiting area and provided toys for the kids to play with. I was helped upstairs and changed into my gown then quickly placed in the water. We chose water birth for all of our children and we love the experience and the lack of a mess to clean up! Gaston and Gattz suited up into their scrubs and as Gattz held my hand and touched my hair, I was finally able to concentrate. Moments later, our beautiful baby boy was born!
*happy tears all around*

Everything went perfectly and was all very much a dream. Although he did not make it to his due date in June, he made his way through in May!
His first snuggle as Zachary!

Our Letter to Our Son:
To our little boy. You were just born today. One of the first things we learned about you is that you didn't want to wait to see us. You were born 3 days early! But we are so happy you were born today as we really wanted to see you too.
Perhaps it was the glow of the fireplace that last magical night at camp or maybe it was the wish come true as we sat there and spoke about the son we have been looking for. Whatever it was, it was written in the stars that just weeks later, we would be able to call you -ours. You were everything we were looking for, you were the sparkle in our eyes just waiting to be seen.
You are a piece of our family puzzle that makes it whole. Our hopes and dreams for you is that you always follow your dreams, have an open heart to the world. There may be bad people that will want to break your heart, but know that there are so many more that will want to hold that little heart of your and make it grow with happiness.
When you want to go on adventures, to save the city from evil, know that you are not alone. You have your siblings by your side and your mom and dad. Together we can defeat any evil because as a family, the love we have can beat anything.
Whenever you may falter, know that we will always be there. We are always your ally, never your enemy, no matter what.
We love you,
Mom and Dad
